Aubade with Police Sirens

By M.E. Marín

Bedroom flashing red and blue
from somebody else’s problem.

We mind our business here.

I don’t say I love you, I miss you,
them things white people say.

We mind our business here.

You watch them get smoked
from the window sill. I go grocery
shopping in a veil.
